BASF today (August 7) announced it has lifted the Force Majeure for several products across its animal and human nutrition portfolios, with immediate effect.
The announcement covers the following animal nutrition products: Lutavit® E 50, Vitamin E-Acetate Oily Feed, and Lucarotin® 10% Feed NXT. In the human nutrition category, Force Majeure has been lifted for Dry Vitamin A-Palmitate 250 CP CWD, Dry Vitamin A-Palmitate 250 FP CWD, Vitamin A-Palmitate 1.7 Mio IU/g unstabilized, Vitamin E-Acetate 98%, and DL-alpha-Tocopherol.
“Previous statements made in this website regarding lead times for supply, timing assumptions and Force Majeure status on all other products remain valid.”, said BASF.
The affected products are produced at BASF’s global manufacturing network, including its Ludwigshafen site in Germany. The site produces feed- and food-grade vitamin A and E ingredients, as well as other human and animal nutrition compounds.
According to Expana’s Feed Additives Supply & Demand Pro service, BASF’s production capacity for vitamin A 1000 at Ludwigshafen is approximately 5,600 tonnes/year, while vitamin E acetate nameplate capacity currently stands at 15,000 tonnes/year. A 10% capacity expansion announced in January 2025 is expected to raise vitamin E acetate capacity to 16,500 tonnes/year by 2027.
