Expana has launched additional UK Chicken Expana Benchmark Prices

Expana has launched 3 weekly Expana Benchmark Prices (EBP) for UK frozen chicken cuts and fresh broilers.  

The initial proposal was announced in a market note published on Tuesday, 30 July 2024 which can be viewed here. The decision to go ahead with the launch was communicated in a market note on August 14th, 2024, which can be viewed here.   

The specifications for the assessments are as below:  

  

The assessments reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 UK time. 

The assessments complement Expana’s existing UK chicken coverage providing additional insight and granularity into the frozen chicken cut and whole fresh broiler markets. 

Frozen chicken thighs and legs are heavily utilised in both the retail and food service sectors and the assessments provide a set of reliable benchmarks in what is traditionally an opaque market. The broiler assessment ensures that Expana has full coverage of the commonly traded broiler weights, allowing Expana subscribers to compare dynamics between the weight of birds.
