In a strategic move to bolster its comprehensive red meat market coverage, Expana is introducing a new price forecast for 167A 4 Round, Knuckle, Peeled Beef.
While the company already delivers over 300 red meat price forecasting series, this new addition seals a crucial gap for stakeholders whose contracts and margins hinge on cut-specific pricing.

This cut of beef is particularly significant for the market according to Whittaker: “The 167A 4 Round, Knuckle, Peeled, is a cut of beef that comes from the hindquarters of the cattle, located above the knee joint and constitutes to the Primal Round. The knuckle is known for its leanness, due to the leg muscles receiving frequent exercise, and makes it an attractive source of protein.”
Despite the increase in price we have seen in this cut for a number of years, this is forecast to change over the coming months.
“Round Knuckle has been in a long-term uptrend since late 2022, where the price has been wavering in an upward slanting direction,” shared Whittaker.
“Recently, the price has risen to a top, fueled by seasonal demand. We expect the peak to be in place soon and for the price to fall as we head towards Q4. Depleted inventories in the US cattle herd and a squeezed supply of beef from Mexico will maintain high prices and keeping the long-term uptrend intact.”
