Portugal’s BA Glass will acquire a 41.28% stake in Tunisian container glass producer SOTUVER, part of a strategic ownership review designed to bolster SOTUVER’s financial structure and support its long-term growth.
SOTUVER’s majority shareholder is currently the BAYAHI Group, holding 82.56% of total equity.
The transaction is subject to the usual closing conditions.
The first notification that an international actor in the glass market was in discussions for roughly a 41% stake in SOTUVER was issued in March 2025. In late September, the company said the project had been submitted to authorities and was awaiting examination by the Competition Council of Tunisia.
Portugal’s BA Glass signaled plans to invest in Tunisia during a meeting this week between CEO Tiago Moreira da Silva and Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh. According to the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA-Tunisia), the Portuguese container glass producer will “begin the integration phase” of the investment in Q1 2026. BA Glass did not respond to Expana’s request for comment.
In its most recent quarterly results, SOTUVER reported nine-month revenues of TND 81.8 million (US$ 27.9 million) and overall revenue growth of 7%.
