Expana launches US Fruit & Vegetable Expana Benchmark Prices

September 30, 2024

Expana has launched monthly Expana Benchmark Prices (EBP) for the North American IQF markets covering raspberries, blackberries, bananas, blueberries, mangoes, peaches, and onions.

The initial proposal was announced in a market note published on Thursday, 29 August 2024 which can be viewed here and the decision note to go ahead with the assessments was published on 16 September and can be viewed here. The specifications for the assessments are as below:

The assessments reflect the transactable value at 16:00:00 Eastern Standard Time.

The IQF prices for raspberries, mangos, and blackberries will enhance Expana’s current market coverage, offering greater insight into conditions in key regions like the Pacific Northwest and East Coast. The new prices for onions, bananas, and organic blueberries will bring transparency to markets that were previously underrepresented. Additionally, the IQF peach prices, which have been highly requested, will address a significant market segment. The IQF peach market is the second-largest in the IQF fruit sector, projected to reach $1.4 billion by 2031. A notable trend in the IQF fruit market is the growing focus on product diversification, driven by increasing demand. In 2023, North America led the market, capturing the largest revenue share and highlighting its key role in the sector. The launches will increase transparency in traditionally opaque markets, providing additional independent and reliable benchmarks for commonly-traded items in the category.
