[Expana] To start can you describe your career background and current role?
[Victor Tarafa] I am a Miami native and University of Florida alumni. Currently, I am a Senior Purchasing Analyst for Quirch Foods, focusing on the egg, fowl and turkey markets. I handle the buying for our domestic and export markets.
[Expana] Why do you think it’s important to highlight rising stars like you in our sector?
[Victor Tarafa] Highlighting rising stars in our field is essential because it recognizes hard work, innovation and dedication. [Victor Tarafa] I was completely shocked—I had no idea until my name was announced! It was a great honor, and it felt amazing to be recognized by my peers in the industry.
[Expana] What impact has winning this award had on your career or personal growth?
[Victor Tarafa] Winning the Rising Star Award has given me the opportunity to meet new industry colleagues and expand my network, strengthening my relationships with vendors and opening doors to new collaborations.
I’m also focused on continuing to grow both professionally and personally. I plan to build on the connections I’ve made, explore new opportunities within the industry, and take on challenges that push me to the next level. My goal is to keep learning, innovating and make a meaningful impact in my field.
[Expana] What qualities do you think make a great nominee for the Rising Star Award?
[Victor Tarafa] I think a great candidate for the Rising Star Award should be adaptable, have a strong work ethic and be professional.
