You’re about to embark on a journey that will revolutionize the way you use our market intelligence data. This page will help ensure a smooth transition from Urner Barry to Expana.
How to navigate your new platform?
Expana simplifies your navigation with six icons that offer the same trusted Urner Barry data, plus powerful new features.
Prices & forecasts
Navigate the prices & forecasts tab to better understand past trends and future market movements.
- Powerful preview: View the commodity name, region, category, current value, and a 2-year trend at a glance.
- Quick filtering and search: Filter series by category and region, or use the search bar to find exactly what you need.
- Better visualization: Graph one or more series together, customize your view, read relevant News & Commentary alongside the chart, and export them easily.
Expana provides more data than your existing COMTELL subscription. The ‘Forecast button’ is currently locked for your account; please speak with your account manager to explore this new feature.
Watchlists
The watchlists tab builds on the familiar ‘My Items’ experience—now enhanced with more flexibility and control to support your regular market check-ins.
- Unlimited lists: Create as many Watchlists as you need to build a complete view of your most critical markets.
- Flexible data views: Switch between daily and weekly formats to get a snapshot of the items that matter most.
- Enhanced customization: Easily add or remove columns and use collapsible rows to create fully personalized tables.
‘My Items’ from your Urner Barry account will be automatically transferred to your Watchlists tab on May 29.
News & insights
The News & insights tab gives you access to all commodity-related news, helping you stay fully informed on developments across global markets.
- All news at your fingertips: Browse recent news from across the global agri-food landscape in one place.
- Stay on top of market-moving stories: Explore trending topics pinned at the top, covering key issues like tariffs and bird flu.
- Market-specific coverage: Filter by region or commodity to view news tailored to your selected categories.
Markets
The Markets tab builds on the familiar ‘Pricing Tables’ experience, offering a comprehensive view of all data within a specific market—now enhanced with smarter filtering and customization tools.
Dashboards
The new Dashboards tab transforms how you experience market intelligence by bringing all your key data together in one place.
- Interact with live data: Use interactive widgets like charts, graphs, and tables—always live and up to date with the latest insights.
- Track price movements: Build custom dashboards with historical prices, forecasts, and the data that matters most to you.
- Enhanced data visualization: Export individual widgets or your entire dashboard for quick and easy reporting.
Alerts
The Alerts tab helps you manage your notifications so you’re always the first to know when your most critical data and reports are updated.
- Never miss your daily price updates: Receive an email as soon as your market information is updated.
- Be the first to know: Get notified when important global or category-specific reports are published—choose exactly what matters to you.
- Easy to manage: Tick and untick the categories or reports you want to be notified about, right from the Alerts tab.

Why is Urner Barry’s platform being retired?
We’ll be retiring the COMTELL platform to give you access to a more powerful experience with Expana. Built from the ground up, Expana combines the best of our legacy platforms – Urner Barry, Mintec and Feedinfo – into one unified solution. It delivers broader data coverage, smarter features and advanced tools that simply weren’t possible on the older platforms. You will be given a few weeks notice before we turn off the Urner Barry platform.
When will my access to the Urner Barry platform be discontinued?
Each company’s Urner Barry access will follow a unique timeline based on your migration progress and how long you’ve had access to Expana. You’ll receive notifications both within UB and via email ahead of your access being discontinued. Please stay connected with your Expana account team for updates, questions, and feedback.

Where can I give feedback on Expana platform?
We’d love to hear from you! Feel free to email your Client Success Executive or Account Manager with your thoughts or recommendations on Expana and they will pass them onto our Product Development Team. Why are some data and tabs locked?
The Expana platform contains all of the data and content in the Expana data universe including some that you may not have subscribed to. You will see the names and categories all of that great data but will not be able to see the graph or content because it’s locked. If you want to see the content, you can click on the lock icon to request access to it. Your Expana Account Manager will then get in touch with you to discuss options.
