Expana Proposes Methodology Changes to the US Pork Report: Elimination of LTL Quotes and Expansion of the Pork Export Delivery Window

Expana Proposes Methodology Changes to the US Pork Report: Elimination of LTL Quotes and Expansion of the Pork Export Delivery Window

August 24, 2026

Expana is proposing to discontinue 59 less-than-truckload (LTL) US Pork Expana Benchmark Prices (EBPs). In addition, Expana is proposing methodology changes that would establish a minimum trade volume of 10,000 pounds for cuts and trimmings and 5,000 pounds for variety meats (offal) for inclusion in the remaining assessments, except for the below-mentioned exceptions. Expana is also proposing to expand the delivery window for US Pork Export assessments, such as Bone-in Hams to Mexico and Export Variety Meats, from 7–21 days to 1–30 days.

Expana is collecting feedback from market participants until September 7, 2026.

The proposed changes would be as follows:

Items

Reason

  • Combine TL and LTL quotes

So that our assessments are more comprehensive, Expana proposes to combine TL and LTL quotes and include trades with a minimum volume of 10,000 pounds for cuts and trimmings and 5,000 pounds for variety meats (offal), with the exception of Tenderloins 1.25/dn, Boneless Sirloins, Bone-in Sirloins, Blade Ends, all sized St. Louis Ribs, Fresh Back Ribs, and Frozen Back Ribs.

  • Expand the delivery window for US Pork Export assessments

To better reflect current export trading practices, Expana proposes expanding the delivery window from 7–21 days to 1–30 days, allowing additional qualifying export transactions to be included in the assessments.

Expana proposes to implement these changes to the daily assessments in Q4 2026, pending stakeholder feedback.

The proposed assessments would reflect market and transactional data collected during the reporting period.
