Expana Proposes to Launch Brazilian Beef, Rib Finger Assessment

Expana Proposes to Launch Brazilian Beef, Rib Finger Assessment

July 17, 2026

Expana is proposing to launch a weekly Expana Benchmark Price (EBP) for the Brazilian beef exports market to China and is collecting feedback from market participants until July 31, 2026.

Expana suggests launching the weekly assessment during H2, pending stakeholder feedback.

The proposed specifications for the assessment would be as follows:

Description

Code

UB Beef CFR, China, Origin: Brazil, Rib Finger EBP

xxxxx

The proposed assessments would reflect the transactable value at 15:30 Brasilia Time (BRT, GMT-3) on Thursdays.

Brazilian rib fingers have become more consistently referenced in China-facing negotiations, reflecting the cut’s growing relevance among key traded items on this route. As a higher-value-added product gaining commercial traction, a regular Expana assessment would help market participants better benchmark pricing and provide a transparent reference point for trade. Given the continued growth of Brazilian beef exports to China and the increasing prominence of rib fingers within that trade flow, a dedicated assessment would provide meaningful coverage of a cut that warrants consistent market representation.

For feedback or suggestions on this proposal, please email [email protected] by July 31, 2026, and clearly state which market note your comments relate to, and if your comments are intended for publication by Expana.
