Expana to Implement Methodology Changes to the US Pork Report: Elimination of LTL Quotes and Expansion of the Pork Export Delivery Window
September 11, 2026
Following a period of market feedback, Expana will implement methodology changes to its US Pork Expana Benchmark Prices (EBPs), including the discontinuation of 59 less-than-truckload (LTL) US Pork EBPs, the introduction of minimum trade volume thresholds for inclusion in the remaining daily assessments, and the expansion of the delivery window for US Pork Export assessments from 7–21 days to 1–30 days. Expana will implement these changes to the daily US Pork assessments in Q4 2026.
The initial proposal was announced in a market note published on August 24, 2026, which can be viewed here: Expana Proposes Methodology Changes to the US Pork Report: Elimination of LTL Quotes and Expansion of the Pork Export Delivery Window – Expana
The specifications for the methodology changes will be as below:
| Items | Reason |
| So that our assessments are more comprehensive, Expana proposes to combine TL and LTL quotes and include trades with a minimum volume of 10,000 pounds for cuts and trimmings and 5,000 pounds for variety meats (offal), with the exception of Tenderloins 1.25/dn, Boneless Sirloins, Bone-in Sirloins, Blade Ends, all sized St. Louis Ribs, Fresh Back Ribs, and Frozen Back Ribs. |
| To better reflect current export trading practices, Expana proposes expanding the delivery window from 7–21 days to 1–30 days, allowing additional qualifying export transactions to be included in the assessments. |
The assessments will reflect market and transactional data collected during the reporting period.
