Expana to Launch Frozen Mexican Octopus Assessments

Following a period of market feedback, Expana will launch three bi-weekly Expana Benchmark Prices (EBP) for the US Mexican Octopus market. Expana will launch these new bi-weekly assessments in Q4.
The initial proposal was announced in a market note published on July 10, 2026, which can be viewed here.
The specifications for the assessments will be as below:

The proposed assessments would reflect market and transactional data collected during the reporting period.
The additional origin being quoted will enhance transparency in a currently opaque segment of the octopus marketplace, broadening overall coverage of octopus market dynamics in the United States.
