Cargill to close Washington state animal nutrition plant
Cargill has announced plans to permanently stop production at its Ferndale, Washington State, animal nutrition site in mid-November, rather than carry out several upgrades and investments needed to modernize the facility.
“Cargill Ferndale customers will receive Cargill feed products through Cargill’s Granger, Wa. animal feed facility or EPL Feed LLC in Sumas, Wa.,” the company said. “Cargill is working with the 12 Ferndale employees to help find employment in other Cargill facilities or businesses in the area.”
Gerry Albus, dairy feed operations lead for Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health, North America, said: “We are thankful for the unwavering commitment of our employees and the ongoing support of the community for so many years. Servicing our dairy industry customers with high-quality products and service will continue, just through a different, but trusted, facility.”
Guangdong Yuehai acquires 51% stake in betaine producer Yixing Tianshi Guangdong Yuehai Feed Group, a Chinese aquafeed manufacturer, has acquired a 51% stake in Yixing Tianshi Feed Co., Ltd. for CNY 112.2 million (approximately USD 15.8 million), with payment to be made in three installments within six months of the transaction’s completion. As part of the agreement, Yuehai plans to acquire the remaining 49% of the company within three years through the issuance of shares in a publicly listed company.
Yixing Tianshi Feed Co., Ltd., a Chinese producer of feed additives, specializes in aqua feed additives, with betaine as its flagship product. The company has a betaine production capacity of 60,000 tonnes/year and claims in a statement to be the first in China to achieve large-scale production of this product, of which 50%-60% is exported. The company’s products are sold in over 70 countries and regions, including Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa, and Oceania, and it has established stable partnerships with the top 30 global companies in the feed industry, according to the same statement.

The Andersons acquire majority ownership in Skyland Grain
The Andersons, Inc. has completed the acquisition of a majority ownership in Skyland Grain, LLC. Skyland has more than 7,000 co-op members across more than 50 grain and agronomy locations in states including Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Texas.

Phibro Animal Health completes acquisition of Zoetis medicated feed additive ops
Phibro Animal Health has completed the acquisition of Zoetis’ medicated feed additive product portfolio and certain water-soluble products.
The deal includes more than 37 product lines sold across approximately 80 countries, six manufacturing sites in the US, Italy and China, and more than 300 employees. The agreement was originally reached in April 2024.
